If you are tired of mass tourism and are looking for something inspiring and authentic, then you have come to the right place. We take care of your needs as if they were our own. Because here details do matter.
Villa The Olive Groves
In the heart of nature, 7 km from the sea, stretching on over 30 000 m2 of land in the perfect oasis of peace and tranquillity hides a luxurious rustic villa for 12-14 people. A pool, a tennis court, a wine cellar and a lavish terrace with a summer kitchen are only small pieces of this fairytale which takes your breath away with its glorious view of the sea and the peninsula of Pelješac.
A perfect oasis of peace, tranquillity and glorious views of the beautiful surroundings (vineyards, olive tree groves, the sea and the islands).
Imagine a rising in the hinterland of the sea, 5 km air-way to the sea, filled with olive trees and vineyards. On the south side of the hinterland lies a stone villa, like a true beauty carved in the wall and authentically melted with the surroundings which are filled with olive tree groves. Its outside gives an impression of a harmonious marriage between stone, Mediterranean green windows and the surrounding nature. Majestic beauty and a gracious setting in the hill give anticipation of what awaits us inside: an even more luxurious interior in rustic style with timber work and several centuries old oak wood furniture. When you realise that every single piece of furniture has been lovingly handcrafted by local Slavonic craftsmen this beauty inspires you romantically, crowning the experience with a beautiful sunset which takes most people’s breath away.
And so you remain speechless, fascinated by the beauty and magnificence of the nature
Positioned in the south of Dalmatia between the river Neretva and the Adriatic sea, the villa has an exquisite location – 280 m2 of interior on three floors and 30 000 m2 of land ensures that during the day or night nothing and no one disturbs your peace (except for yourself and a few birds). Within a 5 km radius there is not a single soul around (excluding the turtle which happens to walk into the yard at times).
The villa comfortably accommodates between 12-14 people
There are two toilets on the ground floor (male and female), a large dining room (a large table for 12 people) and a living room with a fireplace, a sofa, an LCD television (SAT-TV), air-conditioning (heating and cooling), a Hi-fi, a well-equipped kitchen (a dishwasher, a kitchen-range, a microwave, a coffee machine, a water heater ...) and a storage room. You can also find a special room for a washing machine and a drier, an ironing board and iron, tennis rackets, tennis balls and a soccer ball, etc.). If you happen to miss something, there is a free of charge Croatian mobile phone in the villa which you can use to call the extremely attentive hosts who resemble fairy godmothers – you make a wish, they make sure it comes true.
The bedroom view of the sea is especially inspiring and seen from all 5 bedrooms. On the first floor there are 4 bedrooms (all with a double bed, air-conditioning and Sat-TV) and 3 bathrooms. The second floor boasts with the largest bathroom and an extra pull-out couch for two people and a bathroom. On the way to the master bedroom you will fall in love with the beautiful large wood chest where the bedding and towels which you can use at your convenience are kept. The bedding is a quality hand made product so you will sleep like angels. There is a possibility of an extra bed or a children’s bed (which is in the villa if you need it) in the two bedrooms. Pets are also welcome to stay at the villa with previous notification and a symbolic additional payment.
Do you remember the sound of silence?
A place where the company spends the most time is a large summer (thatched) terrace with a fascinating view of the sea and the Pelješac channel. There is a large external grill, a bread oven and a complete kitchen utility including a restaurant dishwasher! Next to the terrace is also a lawn with a playground. The pool offers cool refreshment and you can take a shower (external shower) then enjoy the shade by the pool in the beds with your favourite book. The wine cellar provides delight with sampling and enjoying in the local wines, home-made prosciutto and excellent cheese. There is another terrace on the first floor where those who like to have some peace have a chance to lie down with their favourite book.
SURROUNDINGS, BEACHES AND TRIPS
Pebble beaches with small white stones are a 10-minute drive from the villa (7 km). The villa offers various activities you can enjoy in: walks through the olive tree groves in unspoiled nature, smelling different Mediterranean plants, bathing in the private massage pool, bowling on the yard by the villa and tennis on a private tennis court under the villa. A small playground by the pool is suitable for different ball games. The first larger town Klek with all infrastructures (shops, post office, and a pharmacy) is only 9 km from the villa. The food by order or only certain items (bread, milk, etc.) can be delivered to the villa by your hosts. The parking space is in front of the villa.
Fishing and home-made food
The host will gladly take you fishing and between September and January all those curious can visit the wine, olive tree and tangerine groves and have a go at picking these delicious fruit. You can make the caught fish yourself or let yourself be spoiled by the excellent cooking skills of your hosts who will prepare a true home-made feast on the terrace or deliver already prepared meals (both for additional payment). And while you get to know all the agricultural activities, which justifiably give the valley of the river Neretva the name “Golden valley”, you will suddenly have an urge to discover the remoter surroundings
Apart from bathing on the pebble beach Duba, only 7 km from the villa, you will get a chance to try out the extremely popular sport kite boarding or refresh your knowledge of surfing on the mouth of the river Neretva.
Photo safari
The most popular trip in this region is the photo safari (yes, you read it correctly). It is an interesting ride with a traditional Neretva boat through the channels of the river Neretva. This way you will experience all the river and riverside beauties close-up. This is a trip every visitor takes part in!
Mountaineering above the Klek – a visit of the city walls of Smrden, a visit of the church of the Assumption of Mary
From your villa you can reach the church of the Assumption of Mary and the city walls of Smrden on foot. The walls offer a fantastic view of the town of Klek and the Pelješac channel.
A fishing picnic
Discover a romantic boat ride along the sea from Klek to Ston. Try the home-made beverage rakija, wine, sea food specialities, seashells and fish and visit the lovely town of Mali Ston known for the longest city walls in Europe! You can get to Ston by car as you have a good (gourmet) reason - world famous oysters known for their exceptional taste (being bred in the purest sea in the world) are bred there. You have the chance to order a few oysters as an appetizer and then let your taste buds enjoy the best black risotto you´ve ever tasted in the renowned restaurant Vila Koruna. Naturally, all other specialities are also heavenly (baby clams on buzara, for example) but the two mentioned are unbeatable. As you leave the restaurant, the owner will kindly give you two pounds of eco salt acquired at the nearby ecological salt pans. We suggest you take a walk along the walls as they are connected to the very interesting legends and historical events not to mention the view. An exceptional experience!
Visit the ornithological collection in Metkovic
It is no secret the valley of the river Neretva is not only known for its flora but also for the fauna and especially for numerous interesting bird species. Bird lovers will be enraptured – the ornithological collection in Metković is the second largest collection in Europe and you can se around 300 specimens!
Narona
Narona is without a doubt a symbol of this area. A small town of Vid grew on the remains of the Roman Narona, priding itself with a rich history. The Romans left great marks on this town, so all the lovers of history will find the Archaeological museum of Vid, which preserves precious memories of the past extremely interesting.
A summer in Opuzen
Opuzen is certainly a symbol of fun and entertainment. If you plan to stay at the villa in June or August and are in for some fun, you will surely want to know how the locals in this small Dalmatian town live. This is a place of Brodet festival (brodet is a dish, similar to a broth with fish), a night of the wineries, different games, festivals, concerts of klape (a group of male or female singers singing traditional Croatian songs), a ship marathon and others.
Medjugorje
Medjugorje is a destination no believer should miss.
Dubrovnik
Less than a 100 km separates you from the pearl of the South Adriatic. Known for its might walls which helped maintain an independent Dubrovnik republic through the centuries symbolises a willpower, self-confidence and diplomacy. Take a walk along the famous street of Stradun, have a coffee on the market near the charming church of St. Blaise and enjoy in dinner with a view of the sea in the world-famous restaurant of Gils.
Villa The Olive Groves through Tanja´s eyes
The breathtaking views of the sea, the Pelješac peninsula and the smaller islands cannot be described in words. The first time I gazed at the marvellous view right after I had closed the doors of the car the charming hostess Marijana gave me connoisseur’s smile: “Everyone who come here is surprised the first time they look to the sea. They say that they could not have imagined something so beautiful.”
I was impressed with the hand-made furniture and the fact that two local craftsmen carved every piece of stone in this villa for two and a half years. The host and his father singlehandedly with the help of the craftsmen built this villa in the place where there used to be a ruin which had been in the family for centuries. According to the hosts who enjoy in the villa frequently, the sunset in the quiet while sipping vine never ceases to impress them. They say that a man can get used to everything but they are taken aback by this image each and every time. I am always impressed with the villas and the people who transpire such passion and excitement when they speak of their creation. The most charming words I heard were said by the owner’s granddaughter who spent a lot of time on the construction site and said: I built all of this with my grandpa!” So sweet!
In the evening you can hear nothing but the sounds of the crickets and the silence, bringing tranquillity and relaxation in every aspect. Thanks to electricity which has recently been installed in the house this is now possible. The villa is ideal for company which truly needs a break and isolation making it ideal for small business gatherings where you can calmly go through the yearly plans, new ideas, finalize winning strategies and get to know one another at the same time (different team building programmes are possible on the groves, in nature and by the sea).
The tennis court is the icing on the cake as well as bowling when you feel over relaxed for anything more intense. A dream location for families and a larger group of friends. The beaches, only a few minutes’ drive away are mostly pebble (small white stones). I would recommend the Duba beach (the hostess Marijana will give you detailed instructions on how to get there), however, I do not recommend visiting the Klek beach as it is absolutely overcrowded and therefore not a part of a peaceful holiday you imagined.
Villa The Olive groves - soothing for the soul, relaxing for the body and a soft touch for our strained nerves.
