Situated at the heart of Dubrovnik´s old town, two streets parallel to Dubrovnik´s most famous street Stradun, the apartment house Dubrovnik is a typical example of Dubrovnik’s upper middle class architecture of merchants and sailors. Waking up in a comfortable bed to the sight of a few centuries old stone shelf, which the owners have so lovingly renovated and purposely revealed you are in awe of this historic greatness.

The apartments are ideal for all those in love with this beautiful city and its culture and those who have come to discover numerous galleries, museums and city coffee houses, a gathering place for typical ladies and gentlemen of Dubrovnik.

A safely harboured history of pride

When this apartment house was being restored special attention was given to the preservation and rejuvenation of all details bearing testimony of a grand history: stone shelves, stone wash basins, typical timber work and the famous “salocha”, an old Dubrovnik dialect phrase depicting a large, spacious room in old houses (mansions and palaces) which was situated in the middle part of the floor with the entrances to the apartments. Today this part of the house could be named a lobby with entrances to the apartments.

A studio apartment for 2 people in the first and second floor of the house

On the first floor there is one “salocha” (lobby) with two entrances to two smaller studio apartments (21 and 22 m²). There is another saloča (lobby) on the second floor where you can enter two larger studio apartments (26m² and 29m²). Salochas have always been very elegantly and discreetly furnished which is also evident from today’s layout of apartments Dubrovnik after the renovation. People used to gather in this area already in the old days and today the guests meet, chat, rest and enjoy this beautiful ambiance in different ways.

This is a rare jewel available only in ed apartments which inspires the guests to take full advantage of it once they hear of its historical importance. Because the apartments are meant for two people these are mostly couples who come to know each other and often decide to discover the beauties of the city together forming long lasting friendships.

The studio apartments have (all in one space): a comfortable double bed, a kitchen area and a dining counter, LCD television with satellite TV, air-conditioning, a desk with a chair and free Wi-Fi access to internet. The apartment is furnished with a modern bathroom with a bath tub and a massage shower. A DVD and CD player, an alarm clock, a telephone, a safe, a microwave, a ceramic glass hob, a coffee machine, a cooker and a dishwasher are also available. In the lobby you can find a washing machine which is especially practical for those who plan to have an extended holiday.

A Penthouse apartment for 4 people with two separate bedrooms

The apartment for four people on the third floor (56m²) has two separate bedrooms (both have a double bed), a living room with a sofa and a club table, two bathrooms (one is equipped with a hot tub and a massage shower and the other has a shower tub with a “rainforest” shower), a kitchen with a dining table and four chairs. The apartment is furnished with a DVD and CD player, an alarm clock, a telephone, a safe, a microwave, a ceramic glass hob, a coffee machine, a cooker and a dishwasher are also available. In the lobby you can find a washing machine which is especially practical for those who plan to have an extended holiday.

The Grand apartment (110m²) on three floors

This apartment is situated in a separate house and has a breathtaking view of the street of Dubrovnik’s old town. The complete surface of 110m² in three levels offers the highest standard of modern equipment and luxury. On the first floor you can enjoy in the stylistically perfected living room, kitchen and dining room. On the second floor you can find two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with a twin bed. Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom. There is a washing machine and a drier on the ground floor.

This apartment like the previous ones also boasts with state of the art interiors: LCD television with satellite television, free Wi-Fi access to internet. The apartment also offers a DVD and CD player, an alarm clock, a telephone, a safe, a microwave, a ceramic glass hob, a coffee machine; a cooker and a dishwasher.

All apartments have floor heating. The apartments haven´t got private parking spaces, however, public parking spaces are available 200 m away.

THE SURROUNDINGS, BEACH AND TRIPS

You can immediately dive into the historical heart of Dubrovnik where you will feel the grand atmosphere of this proud city. It will only take you a minute to access the famous Baroque palaces, climb the Jesuit stairs, study the incredibly interesting history of the city and stroll along the entwined narrow streets of the Old Town. The apartments have a vital cultural and social position so everything is at your fingertips.

You will only need to make a few steps to reach the famous Stradun; to reach Banja, the city pebble beach, it will take you about 15 minutes (500 meters). A market, the city harbour where a boat can take you to the island of Lokrum every hour, numerous restaurants, bars, shops, a theatre, a cinema, a concert hall, churches and galleries are all in the immediate vicinity of the apartment house.

The Old Town of Dubrovnik is extremely rich despite its small surface. When you are filled with the artistic energy of the museums and galleries and have treated yourself to one of the paintings by an old Dubrovnik artist, you can get fresh air at the top of the famous city walls (about 2 kilometres away) where you can enjoy in the stunning views of the magical sea and find out how this set of rocks has ensured Dubrovnik’s unshakable independence and liberty for centuries. There is a cocktail bar on the city walls where you can have your favourite refreshing drink. If you wish to take a dive in the sea, you can take a stroll (around 15 minutes) to the city pebble beach (small white stones) or take a boat trip to the small island of Lokrum.

Lokrum is a beautiful small island with intact nature known for its unique botanical gardens with many exotic plants. It is surrounded with a rock beach and rich vegetation with a few nudist beaches. Apart from one official nudist beach there are numerous hidden places by the beach on the east side of the island which offer complete privacy. High walls are perfect for those plunges into the sea.

You can reach Lokrum with your own boat or a boat will take you there and back again from the Dubrovnik city harbour every hour (only 5 minutes from the apartment house). Apart from its beautiful nature and privacy Lokrum is also famous for its mysterious legends and interesting stories so an enjoyable time spent here is inevitable.

If you wish to discover the surroundings there are several trips available, one of the most noted is a natural reservation on the island of Mljet (with a beautiful natural Malo and Veliko jezero – Small and Big lake where the temperature of the lake reaches up to 29 degrees Celsius – perfect for those who dislike the cold!) and a trip to the Elaphiti islands which are perfect for a serene getaway due to their unspoiled fishing villages. You can rest just by watching the simplicity of the local life.

Dubrovnik is a city which I have always been drawn to due to its magic, fascinating history and special energy, filled with stubbornness, determination, confidence and pride. I am enthusiastic about every historical detail, the city´s wooden arches, stone bowls to stock olive oil and the stories told about the past Dubrovnik aristocracy. Because I appreciate the comfort of modern interior and can simply not live without an exquisite bed and Wi-Fi access, the discovery of these apartments made for romantic souls has truly inspired me!

Staying here is especially magical during the famous cultural festival, the celebrated Dubrovnik summer games festival which last between 10th July and 25th August. During this time you can be a part of every one of your favourite cultural manifestations: from ballet, the opera, drama theatre, wonderful concerts in the prince’s palace, who could describe it all! In the words of Nora Krstulovic, one of the festival’s organizers: “Dubrovnik summer games festival are a numberless and nameless history. There are just too many and all are equally important. The games are actually a surreal parade. And dreams, which round up a small piece of our lives.”

It is especially interesting to stay at the apartment house in February when the sun is shining with at least 15 degrees Celsius more then in other parts of Europe where we must deal with rain, cold and snow. Rounding up the experience is the celebration of the locals who honour St. Blaise, a patron of the city of Dubrovnik.
